The first shipyard site was inaugurated in Lemwerder on the banks of the
Weser in 1907. Over the decades, it has evolved into a
state-of-the-art shipbuilding complex, currently consisting
of 5 halls for ships of lengths up to 80m, modern office buildings,
an inner harbor and a syncrolift.
Environmentally friendly workshops housing high performance
production facilities for conventional steel, wood, aluminium
and non-magnetizalbe steel. Lemwerder can be reached conveniently
by Bremen Airport, railway and the A1 and A27 motorways.
Visitors arriving in private aircraft may land at the ASL airstrip
adjacent to the shipyard.

History of Abeking & Rasmussen Yachts:
Since Georg Abeking and Henry Rasmussen founded the shipyard
in 1907, more than 6,400 ships and boats have been constructed.
Until the seventies A&R was also still producing smaller
boats and yachts, but today, the product range for all craft
begins at approx. 30 meters in length. Observing all the up-to-date
new constructions, many people ask what has happened to the
beautiful old traditional yachts.
The ShipYard of Abekign & Rasmussen:
Well, when these classic ships were built, they were the up-to-date
innovative craft of their age. Be it a Hansajolle or a
Concordia Yawl, boats from Abeking & Rasmussen have always
stood for longevity, elegance and technical perfection, and
are still being cared for with affection until this very day.
And that’s why our new craft today, will be tomorrow’s
classics.
Yachts
There is hardly any other type of ship so charged with emotions
as the yacht. Whether this is a sailing or a motor yacht,
this kind of ship is always very personal and frequently stands
for a dream coming true. It is our task to transform the
owner’s dreams into functional and reliable reality without
making any aesthetic compromises.
No matter whether we design the craft in house or we corporate
with of an international designer, we always put our whole heart
into the ship. And nowhere is shipbuilding so varied:
a classic sailing yacht constructed from wood, and up-to-date
fast sloop in aluminium, a displacement motor yacht in steel,
or a speedboat in fibre glass. Each new yacht is unique,
mirroring the style and the philosophy of its owner.

The shipyard has been developing and building ships for
navies, coastguards, the public sector, ship operators and private
customers since 1907. In addition to sailing-and motoryachts,
current products include minesweepers and – hunters, patrol
boats plus special ships like research and supply ships for
the offshore industry.
With SWATH technology, A&R developed a
type of ship with exceptional sea keeping featured that provides
a stable working platform even in heavy seas and opens up quite
new horizons in other operations, while enhancing the safety
and reliability of traditional ones. High demands on safety
and quality provide the basis for our corporate philosophy as
an innovation-oriented shipyard in the high-tech country Germany.
